About

HannaH Jean Crowell has been inspired by the power of storytelling since childhood. Raised in the mountains of North Carolina, her adventures in the wide-open landscape instilled in her a love for the narrative of the boundless experience. Those early formative years have led to a career focused on crafting the immersive experience, emphasizing audience engagement, and connecting people to places. Her work intends to challenge traditional ideas of design in order to transport viewers to a multidimensional creative moment. HannaH believes that design experiences, whether in a museum, a theatre or beyond, create a unique opportunity to connect an array audiences in new and diverse ways.

HannaH earned her B.F.A. in Design & Production from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, with a focus in Scenic and Lighting Design. Following graduation, she served as a William R. Kenan Fellow at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and was a freelance Scenic Designer and an Associate Scenic Designer for more than 100 stage productions at venues throughout the D.C. metro area including The Kennedy Center, Ford’s Theatre, Folger Theatre, Theatre J, Adventure Theatre and Imagination Stage. After continuing her studies in Exhibition Design at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, HannaH became the Exhibition Coordinator and Designer at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University before becoming the Chief Exhibition Designer at The Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC. She has recently begun a new journey as part of the Store Environment Concept Design & Integration team for Lowe’s Inc.
